The kiddos were invited to a family birthday party at Skateland, our local skating rink. So we decided to go and let the kiddos try skating and hang out with their cousins.
Silas had gone skating once before about a year or two ago when he was about two years old. So we thought he might like to go again. He did okay. He was still pretty scared at skating, but with the help of his cousins he skated around the whole rink once or twice. And he even participated in the hokey pokey. He didn’t dare try skating by himself though, he had to hold on to everyone’s hands.
Ellie on the other hand wouldn’t skate out on the rink, but she skated on the carpet. She even attempted to skate on the carpet by herself with no one holding her hand. She was brave but not super brave because she wouldn’t even go towards the skating floor. I even tried to see if she wanted to go with me, but no she refused and wouldn’t budge.
Luckily my kiddos didn’t have any accidents, no broken bones for them, unlike their Aunt Amy who took a fell and ended up having to go to the emergency room. She broke her wrist/arm. Poor thing.
The kiddos though, had more fun dancing than they did skating. When they weren’t on their skates they were seen dancing to the music. I got quite a bit of video of Silas busting moves. Its so fun to watch. Silas and Ellie, whenever they hear music though, they always start dancing. Its so surreal to watch them. They have like no inhibitions and don’t care who sees them or care how they look when they’re dancing. Oh to be young and filled with such innocence and not a care in the world. Check out the video below of the kids getting down at Skateland.
